Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club is a member of the Hants and Dorset Amateur Rowing Association. The Association is a group of 12 clubs running from as far west as Poole to as far east as Southsea.
The Hants and Dorset racing season runs from May to August. Each club hosts a regatta and there is a joint regatta held at Swanage.
Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club trains crews to attend these regattas, where there are many opportunities to race, with both mens and womans events. New rowers start at 'Novice' status and can build their way up by winning events.
In most events there is a Hants and Dorset ARA league, where clubs aim to win the most points and win the overall championship. Shanklin has won many championships over the years.
Other events the club compete in include the South Coast Rowing Championships, National Junior Inter Regional Regatta, National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships and many local head races.
