The club’s early season success continued at last weekend’s Island regattas.

The Men’s Junior Four of Arlo, Carter, Louis, Fred and Esme (cox) produced two dominant performances to win at both Ryde on Saturday and at their home regatta on Sunday. The draw at Ryde found the crew out in lane ten so made the victory even more impressive.

This coupled with an excellent victory at Christchurch the previous week gives the crew a three-point lead in the chase for the H&D Championship.

There was also a double win in the single scull for Fred, winning the Novice race at Ryde and with-it promotion to H&D Junior status, then secured an excellent win in his first Junior sculls race at Shanklin.

Frances also enjoyed a successful home regatta, winning the Ladies Senior Pairs race with Anna and taking top spot in the Ladies Novice Sculls, with Esme finishing fourth.

There were podium finishes at both regattas for the club’s Ladies Masters crew of Hayley, Stella, Anna, Lisa R and Jane taking third place on both occasions.

The Masters Men and Novice Ladies crews both finished fourth in their races at both regattas with Kev and John also finishing fourth at Shanklin with an improved performance.

The club’s Juniors secured three wins at Shanklin, the Girls J14 Quad of Rose, Connie , Ella , Layla and Stella (cox) won by a boat length and there were two further wins in the Boys J16 Quad and J18 Fours events.

The boys J14 quad of Josh, James, Sam, Digby and Paul (cox) took second spot in their first race in this combination
