The Men’s Junior Four of Arlo Adds, Carter Horrix, Louis Sheasby, Fred Giemza-Pipe & Esme Walters (cox) comfortably qualified for the final and – despite a good start – found themselves level with Itchen. The crew surged from the turn however, pushing themselves back in front to win by a length.
Sheasby and Horrix also took the plaudits in the Open Double Sculls, after another hard race with the pair holding off a late challenge from Christchurch.
The club’s 3rd victory of the day came courtesy of the Girls J14 Quad of Izzy Bounds, Rose Collier, Ella Haydon, Layla Katirewa and Esme Walters (cox), with the crew also finishing in 3rd spot in the J16 race.
Fred Giemza-Pipe also contested the Novice Sculls event, where – despite a late push for the line – lost out by a canvas to Itchen.
There was an excellent 3rd place finish, in their first time competing at this event for Esme Walters and Anna Scott in the Open Ladies Double. Also securing 3rd place were the Masters Ladies, where Anna teamed up with Stella Gamble, Lisa Robertson and Jane Denby-Roach, whilst the Masters Men of Gary Burch, John Langborne, Paul Gamble and Kev Faithfull finished 4th.
The Novice Ladies Four of Lisa Atkin, Theodora Travers, Sam Travis, Evie Selway and Jane Denby-Roach (cox) secured a place in the final in their first experience of side-by-side racing where they finished in fifth spot as did Kev Faithfull and John Langborne making their debut in the Men’s Junior Pair.
Select Junior crews look forward to competing this weekend at the National Schools Regatta at Dorney Lake and a large contingent will also represent the club at the second Hants and Dorset regatta at Poole.
