Junior regatta sees success all round!

Shanklin enjoyed a great IWRF Junior Invitational regatta, with a great social atmosphere and some excellent racing! The regatta takes juniors from all three island clubs, and places them in mixed quads and single sculls for short races on the river medina. The event aims not only to provide racing experience, but also to intergrate the juniors from all three clubs socially.

Shanklin had eleven rowers at the event, and enjoyed success in many of the events. With Henry Mudge, Joe Robertson, Sam Moseley, Jaimey Wain, Becca Nigh and Will Allsopp all making the final in their crews. Henry took the plaudits in his crew as they took the win! Matt Miselbach made his sculling final but retired through injury, Joe Robertson also won his sculling race whilst Rebecca Nigh managed second in her race.

The event was ran fantastically well as it normally is and a special mention to Garry Walters, Graham Reeve, Steve Bull, John Forrest, Kev Bennett and all other club members who helped to run the regatta.

The club now look forward to Ryde and Shanklin regatta weekend on the 17th and 18th of May!
