Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club (sponsored by Advanced Automotive) attended Milford Regatta on Saturday with some good results.
The Men’s Senior Pair crew of Alex Robertson & Matt Mislebach (Stroke), had an excellent race. They were about to take the lead half way back from the buoy turn when a rival crew from BTC cut them up, preventing them from taking the win and giving them second place in this race.
Alex Roberson then had another strong performance in the Senior Sculls race where he took 3rd place against some strong competition.
Joe Evans-Murray competed in the Junior Sculls Final where he had a tough race. After being left behind on the start line, Joe managed to power his way through to the front and after a well-executed buoy turn he was leading the race all the way back. He managed to hold off the competition and took the win by a length.
The ladies Junior B crew of Lisa Robertson, Rebecca Nigh, Daisy Faithfull, Amber Pierce (Stroke) and Anja Bennett (Cox) rowed in the straight Final in the afternoon. Despite a good solid row in difficult conditions the crew failed to make a podium finish.
