"Pier to Pier" row 2018

In choppy conditions on Sunday afternoon the "Pier to Pier " row was held over an amended

course but successfully completed by several crews from Shanklin and also Newport Rowing Club. With two divisions, incorporating doubles, pairs and fours the race was organised on a handicap basis and there was some very exciting racing and ultimately a close finish.

After the times were calculated the winning crew was the J14 Boys quad, of Ethan Walters,Riley Horrix, Sam Murray and Owen Denness with cox Jamie Gamble. The Crab Inn Marathon Shield

was presented to them by Pat Glover, a Vice President of the club. After the racing, rowers, spectators and helpers all enjoyed a BBQ. Thanks go to Newport RC for coming over, and all parents who assisted with the bbq, boat launching and running the bar.

For all our members who will be racing at Deal this weekend at the South Coast Championships

this was a very good rehearsal!
