GB rowers Imogen Grant and Charlotte Hodgkins-Byrne presented Shanklin Sandown Rowing club’s Ethan Walters and Riley Horrix with their medals and pennant at the Awards ceremony for the 2019 Pairs Head in Chiswick last weekend. The duo, part of the IOW Talented Athletes Programme, started their winter season in winning style last month, beating the top crew in the country for the J16 Open Doubles title – no mean feat on the challenging 5k tideway course.
Within the same week, twenty six club members attended the Hants & Dorset presentation dinner at the Novotel in Southampton, and the boys also collected, alongside teammates Jamie Gamble and George Glenister, the Hants and Dorset Junior Fours Championship title. Unbeaten all season, the crew also went on to win the prestigious South Coast Championship at Dartmouth in September. Jamie and George completed a clean sweep by also securing the Hants and Dorset Junior Pairs Championships for Shanklin. The club also collected the cup for the Novice ladies sculls championships.
