National Honours for Shanklin rowers!
Shanklin Sandown rowing club rowers Emily Faithfull and Riley Horrix recently
competed for their country at two events at the beginning of the month.
Emily was part of the England team at the Home International beach sprint held in Wales, with sister Daisy also selected as a boat handler for the event.
The format, which could be part of the 2028 Olympics, consists of a 50m sprint, a 500m row including a buoy turn and finishing with a sprint back up the beach.
Emily was in the mixed doubles event and finished third in the time trial, but just missed out on a medal by finishing fourth in the final.
Riley, who has recently returned to the sport whilst studying at Imperial College, travelled to Poland for the European Universities rowing championships after being selected to race in the coxless pair.
The crew achieved a creditable fourth spot in the B final, racing against a quality field from all around Europ
