Five under 16 members of SSRC represented Wessex at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham in the Junior Inter Regional Regatta competing against fifteen other regions.
Connie raced in the WJ15 1x, winning her time trial by two seconds. She then went on to her A Final later in the day, to be leading the pack the entire way down. Connie crossed the finish line 1.4 seconds ahead of her opposition, winning the gold medal, a fantastic achievement!
Digby and Josh raced in the OJ15 2x, coming ninth in their time trial. Between the top nine crews, they were only five seconds apart. They competed in their B Final, where they made an impressive move from fourth to second place in the last 500m.
Martha and Annabelle raced in the WJ16 2-, coming fourteenth in their time trial. Having only been out a number of times before the competition, this was a remarkable feat. In the C Final, they came second, closing the gap between them and first place in the last 500m.
Congratulations to all crews for their performances and thanks to Club Captain Garry who is Team Manager for Wessex and Lesley, club and Wessex coach.
