A large contingent of rowers travelled to Christchurch, Dorset for the Head of the Stour regatta, with the 20 athletes competing in cold but manageable conditions. The club came away with five podium finishes across the junior and adult categories.
The standout result of the day came from Digby Ridgwell in the Boys J16 Single Scull. Racing up a category against older competitors, he won by over a minute. Connie Batley-Smith matched that in the Girls J16 Single Scull, also racing up a category and taking the win by 10 seconds. Rose Collier and Ella Haydon followed their success at BTC a fortnight ago by winning the Girls J16 Double Scull.
Josh Bachelor and Alex Collier also impressed in the Boys J16 Double Scull, racing up two age groups and posting a quick time.
Annabelle Steward stepped up to race in the U19 Offshore Scull, a new class for her, and came second. Martha Eggleton also raced in the U19 Offshore category alongside the older age group. Both the Men’s and Ladies Junior Fours claimed third place in their respective events.
Coach Garry Walters said: “It was a good club day, with good results right across the board.”
