Shanklin Sandown travelled to Poole for the third regatta of the new season on Saturday.

The club’s Junior crews again enjoyed a successful regatta with five wins and two third place finishes.

The Boys J14 quad of Alex Collier, Connie Batley-Smith, Josh Batchelor, Digby Ridgewell and Paul Gamble (cox), secured a comfortable victory as did their female counterparts of Mariana Hare, Fiona Brookes, both of Newport RC, Martha Eggleton and Olivia Mumberson, with Esme Walters coxing.

In the J14 doubles event, the club also took the top spots in both races with Batchelor & Ridgewell winning the Boy’s race and Mumberson & Eggleton the girls, whilst the J16 girls single sculls race was won by Connie Batley-Smith.

These wins, coupled with the two third place finishes in the J16 quad races, meant the club won the aggregate cup for the most successful club in the Junior events for the third time in four years.

Esme Walters had an excellent regatta, taking second place in the ladies Novice sculls race, her best result to date, and a third-place finish in the Ladies pair with Anna Scott.

There were also fourth place finishes for the Men’s Novice and the Ladies Junior fours.

The Novice Ladies four of Anna Visser, Chloe Walker, Theodora Travers, Ruth Faithfull and Jane Denby-Roach just missed out on a place in the final finishing fourth in their heat and the Masters Ladies finished fifth in their race.
